My sculptures are the result of my desire to discover the many possibilities of neon glasswork. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques by twisting, blowing, and manipulating the glass in various ways. In my neon work, I have implemented the use of a jeweler's torch to create what I call "glowing bubbles". I blow a small hole in the neon tube, melt colored glass rod into the hole, and then blow it out into a bubble, giving texture to the neon tube.

I find the delicate nature of glass makes it an exciting material to work with. I am forced to keep my attention sharply focused on the glass in order to ensure a well-developed piece. I enjoy the spontaneous creative process, working without a pattern and relying on my minds eye, as I let the piece take form. My sculptures appear fluid; wiggly lines, swirls, and circles imply movement. A neon tube is basically a line of light. I take this line and bend it into an abstract form, creating a visual that leaves the viewers to experience the work according to their own sensibilities. Rather than an artistic vision, my work with neon is simply fulfilling. It's the experience of making the piece that is important to me. The possibilities show no end in sight as I continue to offer new ideas to this art form.
