Eve Hoyt (aka Evening Neon) is a Philadelphia-based artist who learned the craft of neon tubebending as a tradesperson, working in the sign industry for several years. Looking to explore the possibilities of using neon as an art form, she set up her studio, Evening Neon, where she makes artwork and bespoke neon projects of all kinds. Creating pieces that are colorful, abstract, and often whimsical, her award-winning artwork has been shown throughout the country since 2001. Hoyt is also a member of the Philadelphia Dumpster Divers, a group of artists using recycled and discarded items in their artwork. With a desire to share the knowledge she has gained from 35 years as a neon craftsperson, she teaches neon workshops in her Glenside studio. Eve also helped to found the Neon Makers Guild in 2022, an organization dedicated to supporting the small community of neon craftspeople. When she isn’t in her studio, she’s visiting second-hand stores, antique shops, and estate sales in search of all things unusual, weird, and antiquated.
