A Word About Neon
The craft of neon has been around for more than 100 years. While there have been advances in the quality of equipment used to make and operate neon, the basic mechanics have remained the same. Like many handcrafts however, neon has fallen victim to cheap consumerism. Although it is still made by hand, neon can be mass produced in factory environments for less money than that of an independent neon shop. Neon production houses buy their supplies in bulk and employ minimally trained glass benders, allowing them to crank out a large volume of signs and usually selling to big box stores and online retaliers, where there can be purchased by the public for very little money. While it may be cheaper to produce, neon signs made in this manner usually suffer greatly in their quality, appearance and longevity.
My neon creations are one-of-a-kind, labor-intensive, handcrafted original designs. They are beautiful, luminous works of art that will last for 25 years or more.
